The Blackwood

As the name suggests, this feast board showcases premium Tasmanian Blackwood, from the cold and west temperate rainforests of Island State’s rugged northwest, a timber used in fine furniture and equally prized for its tonal qualities by musical instrument makers.

With its rich, golden-brown tones and dark swirling grain patterns, the Blackwood is paired with strips of Red Mahogany, a magnificent NSW coastal eucalypt prized for its deep red hardwood and dense, fine grain. The Blackwood feast board is then finished with a centrepiece of tropical New Guinea Rosewood, selected for its gold-and-red grain patterns, swirls and sap veins.

‘The Blackwood’ is my original design, finished with food safe hard wax oil to preserve its lustrous beauty.

Speckled Hen

This stunning feast board features precious and decorative timbers from across Australia.

The sides are Jarrah, a Eucalyptus giant from the sandy soils of south-west Western Australia, paired here with feature strips of Southern Silky Oak from the east coast, each selected to highlight the grain’s ribbon-like strips and golden flecks.

These are held between thin strips of Silver Ash, from Queensland’s tropical north; and then a centrepiece of Tasmanian Blackwood with its golden-brown tones and dark, intricate swirling grain patterns.
